Two of my latest designs..... Hi guys,
I've just posted in the new members section but then realised that it probably wasn't the best place to post pics of my designs. So here they are again. Please excuse the double-posting. First one is translucent with texture and oils paints rubbed in with ground spices. The second one is the "torn paper" effect done on a base of black clay. Both with copper chain and rings.
Still playing with this "circle" series.......
Cheers
Debs :D

Thanks guys. I don't have a flickr page but I am in the middle of developing a new website to display some of my polymer jewelry. Should be finished soon.

hi debs, love your top piece especially, really natural and earthy. do you mind if I ask what colour clay you worked with that you painted with oils and spice?

Hi debbiec,
I always use translucent clay (either kato or premo). Sometimes I use the oils after curing and sometimes I actually colour the clay with the oils prior. Depends on the depth of colour I want. The second way gets rather messy so I have a second pasta machine which I only use for colouring the clay. I use a saddle wax to seal/finish but am planning to go to Bunnings this weekend and see what I can find in the way of wooden floor sealers.

Some of us use Cabot's Crystal Clear water wash up for woods and veneers, it is very similar to the verathane they use in the States we think. I always heat set it on a bit lower heat then the baking temperature after each coat, but only use it when the buffing on the bench grinder won't work. You can get it in 500 ml tin in Satin or Gloss at Bunnings and it will last a long time.
So you only use translucent clays? No colors? Very interesting, I just love that first one, gorgeous colors 8)

Hi guys......I've posted a new post which outlines my technique step by step. I'll do it over a few days. Should be fun......
