Two pendants Been a while since I've 'shown and told', so much happening, how to fit it all in is a mystery!
Anyway, these are a couple of workshop examples I taught during the week. Millefiori is by far the most popular choice of students wishing to learn polymer clay techniques but mokume gane and transferring techniques are a very close second and third.

I have to tell ya....I am loving that MG pendant! I gave up on transfers a bazillion years ago...they never work for me.

I agree...that mokume gane is delish, Mel!!! But then...im such a sucker for mokume too!!! not a fan of transfer myself...bu that is one gorg pendant!

I do love the MG one.
It's stunning.

Really nice on them both, that transfer is great and love the MG. I have been playing around with MG but haven't created anything they are still just sheets waiting for inspiration.

I'm glad you're all liking the MG. I really like this colour combo. I find that MG looks best with lots of colour contrast. Also, the larger the surface the better to see the effects...small beads don't show the lovely patterns so much.
I so understand about the hit and miss of transfers Kathi, there are so many methods and the manufacturers keep changing the formualtion of papers so what may work for some, doesn't work for others ...as Donna Kato just found out after printing her book! That's why I teach transfers, because so many people have trouble with them.

*whimper* when are you gonna come teach me!!!!????
jogza1969- 07-18-2008
They are both great Mel-the top one looks so much like ceramic and I've always loved those colours together.
The second one really appeals to me too cos I have read a few books about Buddhism recently and did a meditation course so it speaks to me! ( and it looks fab too!)
Cheers

Thanks Zarina! I'm a great fan of buddhas teachings and meditation and more recently, chi kung so I too am inspired by buddha images.
And Kathi...I can teach you now! I've always had great success with tshirt transfer paper. For flat surfaces, you just can't go past it. I use Canon brand as the cheaper brands didn't work. Recently, I've been experiemnting using it on curved surfaces like this buddha head...using white clay and making sure to burnish well as usual and then using elastic bands around the form/pendant to prevent the transfer paper peeling off the clay surface for the ten minutes required for transfer...then I peel the paper off and voila! The rest is just a matter of forming the pendant around it. I use Donna Katos method for this. Easy!

well heck, I wanted you to come HERE and teach me :D
Ushas- 07-18-2008
I've got to say...I'm experimenting with an idea where I wanted to transfer a photo image. I used the canon t-shirt transfer paper and I was completely stoked with the result. It's the very first time I've ever done a transfer and it came out perfectly.
The lacky bands things is a great idea though...I'm definitely going to try that on my next one.
melaniedilday- 07-19-2008
LOL...Kathi, I would if I could!
Helen...<high five!!!> So glad to hear about your success! Pics! We want pics! <ignore me, I'm being bossy today>

My dream IS to come to Oz and do a motorcycle tour of the country. I just need to con Karen into wanting to take an 18 hour flight and make sure Munchie will be ok without us for a month or two (since she couldn't come :( )
