Can I say that in my experience, it's not a good idea to leave clay packets near a sunny window. Even inside a shopping bag or a plastic storage box. Even on a cold day, there is a greenhouse effect and the solar gain will cook them. As I have learned to my cost. Sad

Also, I've found that canes I store in the freezer nearly always remain fresh and useable, as long as I wrap them really well in plastic wrap (instead of, for example, a little twist of greaseproof paper), and as long as I don't leave them lying in there for several months at a time.

All else aside, I'd defer to Charlotte's superior experience and wisdom. She's been at this for way longer than I have. Very Happy

(P.S. The Sunshine Coast? Near Minyama by any chance? I've got a friend who lives up that way. Smile )

No definitely keep out of the sun as I mentioned, the sun is not our friend when it comes to keeping our clays fresh and safe. As far as keeping in the fridge that I read on other PC groups from more experienced clayers then me, so just passing on what I have read. Short stints seem to be fine but long term storage seems to create problems.

I certainly don't have superior experience I still think of myself as a intermediate newbie Confused with heaps more to learn Surprised Wink

Minyama is about 20 mins drive from me about half way to Caloundra I think, another suburb of the Sunshine Coast. If your friend is into claying she might be interested in our clay club in Nambour.

@Charlotte: I'll suggest it to her, and thank you. I bet she'd have a lot more fun claying than scrapbooking.

@Cassie: Can't wait to see what you have made!
