Post My latest weirdness
Here's a couple of things I made a few months ago before work got in the way.
These were made for an art show back in June.

Phimotep the Egyptian Pharoah is holding a cat based on 1 of my 3 silver tabbys. [Its Liddlehead, Matches and Kaga combined]

The other one is a Celtic warrior. I had to enter him in the art show under the name of Dynter. I had no idea what I was going to put in the art show and I ran out of time so I just called him Dynter [had to write something on the entry form] . Dyn means man in welsh. I figured the sculpture was going to be male[I'm crap at female faces lol] So I had to make this in the 2 days before the entries were due. I took the pics an hour before submission Very Happy

At the moment I'm going through sculptors block. I have no idea what to make.. and they are all starting to look the same Sad
So if anyone has any ideas I'd be glad to hear them. Normally I focus on Characters with good facial expresion an interesting pose and generally have an animal in the scene with them.

Any Ideas??? Very Happy Very Happy

I'd love to see a sculpture of the Wee Free Men..even better with a sheep in it. Although the sheep would need to be bigger than the Men LOL
For those who have no idea what I just said..The Wee Free Men are characters written by Terry Prachett..they are little blue men with red hair and a Scottish accent.

You are really good at this. I can't sculpt people, they turn out like...... Anyway, I just thought if you took a trip to a local market and looked at people you would get heaps of inspiration. You could sort of reacord and period of your life in clay. I've done the same with photography and got shots of the most interesting people. They're not mystical, but real life characters.
How about a series of doggies. Should be fun.

Hey Dyntar, these are just soooooooo very cool. My kids love them - especially the egyptian one. I am definately not a sculptor but I remember once thinking I would love to do a polymer clay sculpture of those amazing african totem poles or the NZ ones. I think their cool anyway - just a suggestion. Love your work. How did the art show go by the way?? Do you sell your work? And just another quick question - how tall do they stand?

How about Commander Vimes from Discworld with the imp from his 'Gooseberry' organiser thingy. Or have a go at a female do Granny Weatherwax with her white kitten, or do the head of the Unseen University just tripping over 'You' the white kitten, he he he. Or have a go at the librarian?? The librarian choking a wizard trying to turn him back into a human lol

On the Samuel Vimes Wikipedia page there is a drawing of him using a live dragonet to light a cigar! I bet that would look cool done in clay. Smile

Thanks for all the great suggestions and comments. Very Happy Very Happy

I'm currently making a couple of sculptures for someone I work with.
They want me to make 2 fairies a chubby one and a thin one.. Fairies reeeeeaally aren't my thing.
I think It's just aswell that she didn't ask for the happy fluttery fairies in pink tutus. Cos that would just make me nauseous lol She wanted them loosly based on the Gelflings from the Dark Crystal.

I'm making a thin one sat on a toadstool holding/squeezing a frog and the fatter one sat on a log eating flowers.. so far I've just made the basic metal and foil frame work and started on the thin ones face. She has buck teeth. ... [I'm not good at female faces lol]

They are definitely different from what I usually do. [I'll try to post some pics when I finish them.. they should be good for a few laughs ]

btw both of the Celtic warrior and Pharaoh sold at the art show.
